Report on the Two Counties Tour, Sunday 25 September 2011

50km and 70km off-road sportive in Essex/Herts

The second–ever Two Counties Tour, was a well-supported, successful off–road sportive of 50km or 70km on bridleways, byways and quiet lanes through pretty mid Essex and Herts, featuring woodland, farmland, streams to ford and thatched cottages.

HQ, start and finish were at the Crest Cycling Club's Stag Hall in North Hall Road, Ugley, CM22 6JD (GR 51.942689, 0.219565)(TL 5266 2946), easily accessed from M11 Stansted junctin with refreshments, toilets, showers and parking were all available at the HQ. Maps, marshals and signposts were there, along witha gpx track file for those riders with satnav. Our thanks to organiser: Simon Keen, Crest Cycling Club, and all the Crest CC members who helped before and on the day. This was a Crest Cycling Club promotion.

Sportives are not races. The placings and times for each rider do not matter. However, most riders always want to know how well they did against the other riders so here is how each rider finished. Only those riders who finished are shown, and in rider order. The average speed was 15.61kph.
